This piece is built from a rough outer form that holds a visible porcelain shard, edged with gold.

The shard refers to a colonial past — to objects, materials, and histories that have been displaced, broken, or lost. What was once whole now exists in fragments.

Rather than hiding this, the break is made visible. The gold marks the fracture and gives it value. Not by restoring it to “perfection,” but by acknowledging the past as it is.

The ring shows that fragments are not an end, but a starting point. What is broken can be used to build something new.

Each piece is unique, with its own form and traces of the making process.

Within the series Post-Colonial Gold, gold is not about luxury, but about attention: what is given value, and why?

This is not a traditional piece of jewelry, but a wearable object that reflects on the past, rupture, and the possibility of building a future from fragments.
