Provenance
Found during a private estate sale in the coastal region of Liguria, Italy – a place where the mountains meet the sea and where time seems to slow down. According to the previous owner, these warrior figures stood for decades in her father’s library, flanking a row of antique books. He was a history teacher, captivated by the myths of ancient Greece.
Description & Symbolism
This sculptural set features two bronze miniatures of the Bronzi di Riace, iconic Greek warriors originally cast in the 5th century BC and rediscovered off the coast of Calabria in 1972. These legendary figures embody strength, idealized masculinity, and the balance between athleticism and serenity.
The replicas are produced by Vulcania, a renowned Italian foundry known for high-quality classical reproductions. Cast in bronze (or bronze alloy) and mounted on solid black marble pedestals, they radiate timeless elegance.
Each figure reflects distinct physical tension: one is stoic and grounded, the other dynamic with a slight twist in his posture – a study in balance and ancient heroism.

Excellent vintage condition. Both figures show minimal signs of wear. The original Vulcania label is intact on each base. Minor surface marks consistent with age; no chips or repairs. Rich patina present, especially in deeper grooves, enhancing their sculptural character.
