Wearable Sculpture, Post Colonial Gold
This wearable sculpture brings together two distinct material worlds. A small metal thimble, traditionally used in sewing and textile work, is embedded within a dark mineral structure, creating a quiet tension between crafted tool and raw geological matter. The thimble, originally designed to join pieces of fabric, becomes a sculptural metaphor for connection, suggesting how materials, histories, and human labor are intertwined. Part of the Post Colonial Gold series, the work proposes an alternative understanding of value. Rather than relying on precious metals alone, meaning emerges through relationships between materials, cultures, and histories. Each ring is a unique sculptural object, conceived as both wearable form and collectible artwork.
