Editor’s Pick from Wunder Kammer

Provenance

This Art Deco tea set came from a generous friend who was clearing out her attic. It was standing outside. The bold, geometric design caught my eye immediately — and she told me I could take it.

I’m now offering the set for sale through Wunder Kammer. All proceeds will go to a dog shelter — a straightforward gesture between two dog lovers.

Description & Function

This striking set includes a teapot, sugar bowl, and milk jug — all featuring a circular, streamlined design that nods to the Machine Age and early Modernist ideals. The strong, industrial shapes are softened by the patina of time and the gentle sheen of silverplate.

The design is functional yet sculptural, almost like a piece of Bauhaus-inspired architecture scaled down to the intimacy of a tea ritual. With black Bakelite handles and knobs, and perfectly fitted hinged lids, each piece is as elegant as it is practical.

Whether used for serving or displayed as a trio, this set adds a sense of timeless futurism to any interior.

Origin & Production

Stamped E.P.N.S. (Electro Plated Nickel Silver), likely produced in England or France in the 1930s. Though no maker’s mark is present, the precise construction and balanced proportions suggest a quality workshop, possibly influenced by designers like Keith Murray or Jean Puiforcat.

A rare surviving complete set — a quiet relic from an age where even the teapot spoke the language of progress.
