🌿 Provenance

Discovered at a charming brocante market in the rolling hills of Piemonte, near the village of Roccaverano – a region known for its goat cheese and sweeping views. According to the seller, this piece once belonged to Nonna Lucia, who stored her homemade wild cherry liqueur in it. For years, it stood on the windowsill of her summer cottage, where the sun cast ruby-red reflections through the glass across the whitewashed walls.

Description & Function

This object features a sculptural, round-bellied form made of thick red glass, with a long, elegant neck and a smooth, narrow opening. It works beautifully as a minimalist vase, a decorative bottle, or a striking stand-alone object in an eclectic or contemporary interior.

Its shape echoes scientific glassware, yet the warmth of the material and color give it a distinctly domestic and poetic quality.

🌍 Origin & Production

  • Marked with “VE” (likely referring to Venezia), “50 cl” for volume, and “3 mm” indicating glass thickness

  • Origin: Northern Italy

  • Estimated production period: 1960s to 1980s

  • Likely an early industrial piece with artisan flair

🧪 Material & Finish

Crafted from thick-walled, transparent red glass with molded relief lettering on the base. The walls are approximately 3 mm thick, offering a sturdy and durable feel. The rich red tone is deep and consistent, with occasional tiny bubbles and irregularities that add charm and may point to semi-handcrafted production techniques.

📏 Dimensions

This vintage bottle stands approximately 30 cm tall, with a generously rounded base measuring about 11 cm in diameter. The neck tapers to an opening of roughly 3 to 4 cm, making it suitable for holding single stems or pouring liquids. Its volume is marked as 50 cl, or half a liter. The object weighs an estimated 600 to 800 grams.

🔍 Condition

Very good vintage condition. No cracks or chips.
There are minor signs of wear on the underside – light surface scratches and soft matte marks from age and standing use. The rim is smooth and intact, and the color remains vivid and even. These subtle imperfections add authenticity and make it a true vintage treasure.

🎁 Styling Tip

Display it solo on a pedestal, in a niche, or on a bookshelf with warm lighting. Its intense color makes it a perfect accent piece for interiors with earthy textures or bold contrasts. Think travertine, weathered wood, or minimalist ceramics.
